Renewable and sustainable energy companies will defy all odds as the Eco Build section of Plan Expo 2008 (RDS, from Tuesday, 4th –Thursday, 6th November 2008) is set to have the greatest ever presence at Ireland’s leading construction industry event.
Despite a massive downturn in the construction industry over the past months, it appears that the renewable and sustainable energy sector is firmly turning its back on critics and continuing to rise in popularity and success.
Over 80 leading eco companies, including Building Envelope Technologies Ltd, Bio Power Energy Savings Ltd, Green Air Heating Ltd and Ecological Building Systems, will be attending Plan Expo 08 to showcase everything from natural insulation materials to cutting edge renewable energy technologies at the Ecobuild section of the event.
The recent introduction of new building regulations has stipulated that all new home builds must be in compliance with a 40% reduction in both energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, strengthening the message to all other industry professionals that ‘greener is better’, both for the environment and business profits.
Garret Buckley, joint Managing Director, Expo Events, says;
“Ecobuild is entering its second year at Plan Expo and already it is set to be the major focal point of this year’s event. The last year has seen vast changes in the economy and building legislation, which has directly impacted on the majority of industry professionals. This year’s Plan Expo will focus primarily on informing and educating all industry members on how they can combat the downturn and the best steps to take with regards keeping their businesses as profitable as possible.
The key message being sent to the construction industry at present is ‘Go Green’ – this is the future direction of the industry and those who do not comply will ultimately experience most difficulties. Information is power and we strongly urge those attending the show to make a visit to Ecobuild a priority.”
In addition to recent legislative changes, the current economic climate and downturn in construction means that Plan Expo’s focus on industry issues will be a much attended part of the show. Always known as a source of important industry information, this year’s Plan Expo is more informative than ever. The show will host a range of industry related seminars which will address the pressing issues facing construction industry professionals in the current climate.
Industry expert and consultant on Plan Expo’s Eco Build section, Jeff Colley, says;
“The strong showing for Ecobuild this year is testament to the buoyancy of the rapidly emerging sustainable market. We are in the unprecedented situation where sustainable products, which have long been considered marginal, are in fact showing strong growth in sales that are dramatically out of sync wit the construction down turn.
High energy prices, question marks over energy security and global warming are undoubtedly motivating people to make the sustainable switch and these factors are informing everything from government policy, to consumer behaviour.”
In line with regulations introduced in July 2008, Minister for the Environment, John Gormley ahs made it clear that further improvements will be made again in 2010, with the end goal of all new homes being zero carbon by 2013.
Extending across all available space in the Simmonscourt and Pavilions the event will host more than 250 exhibitors, showcasing all the latest offerings and cutting edge technologies from some of the most high profile participants within the construction market. For exhibitors the show represents an opportunity to launch new products, generate business, and gain insights into their chosen industry while also allowing face–to-face interaction with their target market. |
