KEY FEATURES 2006 - CATERPILLAR OPERATORS CONTEST
An exciting new feature at next year’s show is the first-ever Caterpillar Operator Challenge, sponsored by the CAT Rental Store. Caterpillar’s European Operator Challenge has been devised to find the safest and most skilful machine operators and the competition at Construct will look for Northern Ireland’s leading operator. The challenge will be based on a variety of machines from a variety of sectors, allowing operators across industry sectors to compete with each other. Operators will complete a series of challenges to test their control and manipulation of each machine with independent adjudicators judging performances.
“The main aim of the Caterpillar Operator Challenge is to promote safe and efficient machine operation and to help raise operation standards in general,” according to Andy Mackey, of the CAT Rental Store.
“Competitors from all over Europe travel to the competition in Spain to test their skills and abilities, in what is now regarded as the most serious test of construction equipment operators this side of the Atlantic. Competitors test their abilities on machines ranging from CAT 302.5 Mini Excavators to CAT 980G Wheel Loaders. They also get to see and operate machines that perhaps, in their usual day-to-day work, they would never experience. We are delighted to launch the first contest of its kind to Northern Ireland at Construct and look forward to seeing a high number of skilful and safe machine operators competing”.
The winners of these heats will proceed to a final heat in order to be part of the CAT Rental Store Irish Team to compete in Malaga at the Caterpillar European Operator Final. Qualification for the event will take place at a number of heats to be held nationwide with the first heats held at Construct Incorporating Plan Expo next year. All interested operators are invited to register and compete during the three-day show.
